Suzanne Edmundson has been a licensed Private Investigator and high-risk Access
Supervisor since 2005 and founded Axiom Investigations LTD. in 2008. Her decades of
experience also include degrees in the areas of Criminology and Sociology, counselling
and supporting at-risk youth, and assisting victims of crime. Her story and business
have been featured on radio, in magazines, and via online media outlets.
I faced challenges when trying to hire an investigator during my own marriage and was
left no choice but to do the fieldwork on my own. Though what I discovered was
devastating, I realized I was good at it. Being able to see a silver-lining, I left my
marriage with my children and parlayed my experience into a new career. I saw a need
for change and more compassionate customer-service within the male-dominated PI
industry. By the time someone is reaching out to P.I. agencies, they may be struggling
through the darkest, most challenging, times of their life (as I was.).I knew I could use
my own experience to be effective while not foregoing kindness and a human-
connection. I founded Axiom; a female-led PI agency, specializing in civil, corporate,
family / child, and criminal cases. We are the industry leaders in covert and high-risk
work, forensic reports, and Trial testimony.
Being female in this industry works to our, and ultimately to our clients’, advantage, and
benefit. It also provides a level of protection in high-risk, dangerous, and undercover
scenarios. We obtain access and information where male PIs simply don’t, in ways they
simply can’t. We rely on our intuition, creative thinking, sensitivity, and strength. I’m
proud of my reputation for being tough, yet compassionate.
My short-term goals include regulating the access supervision industry, which is
currently unregulated (shockingly). I am working to create standards, oversight, and
training through Access Supervisors Association of BC (ASABC).
I am often asked about my experiences as a high-risk, undercover, female P.I and
supervisor. I am also working toward sharing these incredible stories via a podcast and
