The key to life is having the right attitude. I learned early on that “your attitude is your altitude.”
I did not have an easy life growing up. I lived on my own at age 15 and put myself through high school working evenings to afford my apartment. My motto is to never give up. Being diagnosed with invasive cancer in my twenties and told I had three months to live, I fought the fight of my life, defied the odds, and kicked cancer to the curb. My favourite quote is, “There is no chance, no destiny, and no fate, that can circumvent, hinder or control the resolve of a determined soul.”
After sipping the most flawless glass of wine, I started educating my palate, immersed myself in studies, and travelled to world wine regions quenching my thirst for wine knowledge. Graduating at Guildhall in London, UK was a highlight in my life. Cooking school in Italy was another.
I found a man with forever ingredients, and we have been each other’s rock. We both loved and lost with cancer, which is what ironically brought us together, and for that, we share a profound love.My dream of owning a vineyard came true in 2017 when my husband and I bought a ten-acre private estate on the Naramata Bench in the Okanagan. When I stood in my vineyard for the first time, I cried. My realtor said she was a conduit between the universe and my destiny. It is a culmination of all my wine & viticulture studies coming together. I live an inspired life amongst the vines, and I share my passion as a wine educator in our community. We are blown away at the exceptional quality of wine being produced in BC.
We grow four different grape varieties, have fruit trees, and a beautiful vegetable garden. I am a home chef, inspired by nature’s bounty all around me. I spend most of my time in my country kitchen, cooking for others and hosting vineyard gatherings. I am about to release a cookbook with all my most-asked-for recipes, entertaining secrets, and wine pairings. We love our Okanagan lifestyle and wake up every day with an abundance of gratitude.
Dreams do come true; I am living proof.
