Nicole is a wife, mother, animal lover, tree hugger, art enthusiast, graphic designer, but most importantly – one-of-a-kind.
There is one trait that has stayed consistent throughout the chapters of my life – being authentic. Ever since I can remember, I have been a free-spirited individual who expressed myself through fashion, accessories, ever-changing hair colours, and my love for the planet.
Yes, I was that shy, quirky kid in school who strived to look different and supported causes my friends never heard of. I am not sure how I survived my adolescence, but I stayed true to my creative personality all the way through college and into a career in graphic design. This authenticity turned into my brand.
I refuse to change my behavior or ignore my values and beliefs in order to be accepted by anyone. Whether it is a personal or professional relationship, I believe you should never change or mold yourself in order to seek the approval of others. A loving shout out to the employers, friends & family (especially my supportive husband) who have embraced my authenticity and made me who I am today. If it wasn’t for their support, I may have never had to courage to quit my full-time job and pursue a life of freelancing and entrepreneurship.
In 2015, I learned that life is shorter than we think. A true Pisces at heart, I dream big, and enduring the loss of five family members in one year pushed me to turn dreams into realities.
Well, let me be clearer 3 human and 2 furry family members. Alzheimer’s, cancer and addiction took the lives of my loved ones all too soon. My sister-in-law was 36 and only a year older than I when she passed. That hit far too close to home and made me re-adjust my life choices.
If there is a passion or hobby you have been wanting to try, stop putting it off until tomorrow.
In the past five years, I have challenged myself with a yoga teacher training certificate, metal forming jewelry classes, pole dancing, acro yoga, learning Spanish, creating a blog for eco-warriors, and working my way through a marketing management certificate at BCIT, and it doesn’t matter how old you are – never stop learning. Travel has become a priority for me, I want to see the world, and experience the culture of others. Once the world re-opens you can count on enjoying my social media photos from every corner of the world.
Over the past twenty years as a graphic designer, I have built up an extensive list of clients based on genuine connections. Amazing skills and work ethic go a long way in my career, but having clients refer you because of your transparency and outside the box personality really shows that being authentic in every aspect of your life is important. Just be you!!
