After building my own successful private practice as a professional therapist, I had a vision for a counselling centre where mental health was part of an overall health plan and therapists worked together to provide exceptional service to their clients. I am the owner, clinical director and president of Alyson Jones & Associates, and I am pleased to say that my vison of a thriving mental health center became a reality and has been operating since 2008.
Most people struggle in some manner with mental health issues along the way. This is not a flaw, but rather part of the human condition. As we need a physician to help us with our medical issues, we may also need a therapist to assist us with the mental health challenges in life. There is no shame in seeking medical or psychological treatment. A good doctor or therapist is like a good coach – helping you develop the skills you need for authentic and healthy living. There is strength and healing in getting good help, and in accepting that pain is part of healing. The reality is that all health issues are legitimate and there is no need to stigmatize physical or mental health struggles. Mental Health IS health!
Creating a successful business that serves a greater purpose has its own set of challenges and joys. I needed to navigate both my professional world and the business world. I had to learn to balance my professional obligations with practical business strategies and strength, while not losing my vison of the bigger picture and the higher purpose. There were fears along the way, but I accepted the fears that come with trying to make a vison a reality, and I allowed those fears to guide me forward. I take these same lessons and assist my clients in working through their fears and accomplishing their goals.
We are a comprehensive team of like-minded professionals who are leaders in the mental health field. Each member of the team at Alyson Jones & Associates is deeply valued, as is every client we serve. We bring MORE (Movement, Opportunity, Reality and Exception) to the business world and the mental health field. I am proud to say we have brought mental health concerns and conversations into the public forum while also creating a successful business that is service based and committed to ongoing contribution.
