Pursuit 365 Day 337: Julie Samant

Always transitioning… the year 2022 will be about my vision of the world, through art.

I am from Vancouver, British Columbia. Throughout my journey, I have found that the losses are what bring about success. For example, when I was in a nursing program, I did not pass a semester as it was a physically demanding career for me. At the time, this loss was very heartbreaking. In my career, thereafter, I developed a set of interpersonal and creative skills that contributed to my success as an artist.

My purpose in life is to create, innovate, and inspire others. What brings me the most satisfaction is when others are able to unveil their goals in order to become their own dream catchers. When I was growing up, other people placed limitations on me and my dreams. These people did not believe I would amount to anything, probably because I was born with a rare health condition. Furthermore, I can resonate with the stigma and hardship that arises from the negative projection of others. As a person who grew up believing she has limitations, it has always been my dream to show other people who find themselves in similar circumstances that their definition of success is attainable. The secret is to never give up!

I am the founder of Chiffon Boutique which specializes in acrylic artwork. My specialty is to paint landscapes, florals and contemporary abstracts. The quality or medium of the art is acrylic on stretched and primed canvas, with a finish coat of a sealant to protect the piece. The sealant is occasionally glossed. Chiffon Boutique consists of tangible paintings on canvas with shipping service.

I get my inspiration for my paintings from life experiences combined with the beautiful scenery of the world. A piece could be about a sunset that I witnessed on a walk on a summer day, to having a rough day at my day job. My mission is to invoke a memory or an emotion through different strokes and techniques within my paintings. The different colours that I use resemble the essence of my life moments.

I want my artwork to inspire people within their core. I hope to uplift others with my work as they embark on their journey of life. For instance, for people who buy my paintings and find a place for them in their homes or offices, I wish to enhance a positive feeling for them as they enter their space. My desire is to have an effect on others through my paintings.

I love the feelings that are invoked through my various pieces. When people are able to make a connection to my paintings it is euphoric because they are witnessing the magic that was birthed from my soul. It gives me a sense of who they are, as their attraction to my painting is an indirect attraction to my soul because that’s where the art is birthed from.

My paintings have been showcased at various galleries such as the Roam Gallery, including, the Cardiovascular Department in the Diamond Health Care Center at Vancouver General Hospital. You are going to want to add a piece of my artwork on your wall at home or office. My paintings can evoke a calm and natural feeling once you enter your space. Let’s be creative together and fill your space with magic.

I do paintings by custom order, or you can order your sizes. The size of the paintings varies from 12×12 inches, 12×48 inches and/or anywhere to 24×20 inches, 18×24 inches. An image can be painted onto the canvases that are adjoining. I work with you to create a vision of artwork specifically customized to your needs and wants.
