Sheila Neufeld, a professional artist for the last 16 years enjoys creating work that expresses the beauty and complexity of life.

What is your favourite thing about what you do in your career and why?
I have a couple of favorite things about what I do in my career. The actual creation of the art is wonderful because so many unique inspirations pop up in the moment, and something new comes from it in a way that I never could have planned. I also love it when my clients understand the intention of my work, choose to invest in my vision, and bring it into their lives. That is a great privilege for me.
If you could give your past self some advice, what would you tell yourself?
I would tell my past self that successes are wonderful in feeling, however sometimes the greatest personal growth can come out of what we perceive as disappointments, setbacks, or failures. This growth learned through these times can lead to a deeper understanding of oneself and as a result a more rewarding career in the long run. I would also tell myself that when challenging times hit, remember the good and find a way to get back to that place.
What is your number one priority when it comes to your career and daily work?
My number one priority is to show up and do it whether I am in the mood or not. Also, to find ways to be in a peaceful state when I do my work as I find my painting goes a lot more smoothly when I do.
Do you have a mantra or phrase that you live by? If so, what is it?
I find what I live by is what I have had to learn! What I live by is practice, patience, and perseverance.
