“In just four years Chelsea Cooper has managed to grow her own practice from solo work to a successful firm with a team of ten, and she’s not stopping there. This year the team welcomed their first associate lawyer, Sarah Craig, allowing not only greater capacity, but the support for their next steps in growing a firm”
Beginning law school, I always imagined I would return home to work for one corporation as an “in-house” lawyer, but my first experience in private practice showed me how much I enjoy the interaction with clients, the variety of people and files, and the pride that comes from owning my own business. It’s funny how one experience can reshape your entire trajectory into something that makes so much more sense. Owning this business, with such an amazing team of incredible women (our team at this time are all female) is absolutely what I am meant to be doing and I now can’t imagine any other journey for myself.
The ability of our office to succeed and grow over the past several years has taught us many lessons about teamwork and the ability to pivot where needed, support each other through the obstacles of life, and give back to the community that trusted us during such an uncertain time. As the firm continues to grow, the strengths realized through the ever-changing world of 2020/2021 will no doubt set the foundation of a compassionate, understanding, and incredibly resilient team. I feel lucky to be able to support my team in their own journeys, and to feel supported as a teammate, a leader, and a female in what is definitely still a male-dominated profession.
