Krys Lunardo is a product of the creative forum – host of ET Canada’s “Beauty Beat with Krys,” co-founder of clean beauty skincare brand, Sistine, founder of luxury lifestyle print magazine Dauphine, and mother of two vibrant little ones.
A native of the Bahamas — I was raised on a landscape that nurtured my creative prowess. Intrigued by the nuances of design as an adolescent, it was organic for me to immerse myself in the studies of architecture and fine art history at the University of Toronto.
Although my studies offered a diverse background in the premium business landscape, I was constantly compelled to search for other innovative platforms that afforded creative freedom. While my European travels and exposure to fashion led to celebrating five years of my print publication, Dauphine — it was my curiosity of clean beauty and environmental impact that prompted a paradigm shift in skincare. Recently recognized by Coveteur, Refinery29, Fashion, Hypebae, Women’s Health Mag, The KIT, and Seventeen magazine, Sistine has already made its mark on the beauty space in just fourteen months.
Of course, unwavering dedication to all of my endeavors built the verifiable success of my enterprise, but it’s the synergy of those combined aspects that is fulfilling. They all share this appreciation of provoking human beings, fine arts, and inclusivity while embracing culture. It’s the exploration of the beauty in all things — including flaws, failures, rawness, and ambiguities that add to the structure of happiness for me.
Uncovering vulnerabilities through trial and error can often distort our outlook on life. The silver lining is that we become more resilient without even knowing it. It’s a theory I hinge on — a constant reminder that success is abstract and cannot be applied to all of us with the same stroke. As women, the odds are evidently stacked against us, incredibly so for my fellow WOC, and as time progresses, our active willingness to work together to impact change certainly adds to social success.
Through it all, nurturing the root of the future generations – my little ones – to understand the multi-dimensional concept of life and all of its offerings, while applying good stewardship, brings me happiness. Life is on borrowed time, so let’s make the most of it while our feet can still touch the ground.
