Do you have a mantra or phrase you live by? What is it?
It’s never too late… to Honour. Crush. Build. As a population, we are obsessed with time. We are either stuck in the past or worrying about the future. Many of us (myself included) are still learning to be in the present. As an accountant, I’m trained to always be in the past looking how things happened, how they should be recorded and analyzing trends that arose in the past. I call that honouring the past. With that awareness of what happened in the past, I can work with clients to determine what that means today and crush the to do list in the present. From that data, we have information which we can build for the future, so we don’t have to be scared for the future and be ready for whatever it throws in our path.
What is your number one business goal this year?
My biggest business goal this year was to find a way to combine my passion for teaching and my profession. In the past, I’ve taught courses for my professional association and hosting webinars for entrepreneurs, but it was always on someone else’s terms. This year, I am not afraid to really do what I want, but it’s difficult to stay true to the want and the goal because there are so many distractions and the “what if” scenarios are my kryptonite. However, knowing that if I can really hone in on my ability to break down complex financial concepts and share what they mean to others, that many will find this useful and I will be in my happy zone.
What is your favourite thing about what you do in your career and why? I love numbers and spreadsheets, but not everyone does. My favourite moments at work are when I can see that the client, I’m talking to finally gets the concept or the proverbial penny drops. Money and finances can cause so much heart ache and stress so when I have clients wanting to get a template from me and wanting to apply the concepts we went over in a coaching session or webinar, that makes me warm and fuzzy. That’s when I know they got it! Too many business owners take on too much and much of it takes away from their genius, their core businesses, or revenue-generating activities. I love being able to take on the complicated number crunching to give my clients peace of mind so they can focus on the important things in their business that drives their happiness and revenue.
What makes you motivated on daily basis?
