Connie Peters is an entrepreneur, mother, wife, and pet-lover in suburban Vancouver who wants to encourage you to start where you are, right now.
My favourite quote is, “Start before you’re ready.” I can’t remember where I heard it, but I love it. I tell women who want to be business owners or start something new these words all the time.
I started my entrepreneurial journey by creating a mom-focused events business in 2008 to get myself out of the house and meet other new moms. That business grew to twelve cities, a print magazine, and a mom blog over twelve years before I sold it. It was my first entrepreneurial pursuit and won’t be my last.
Since I sold Modern Mama, I’ve been focused on helping other women entrepreneurs learn social media, grow their businesses, and help them work on their business behind the scenes. I also am an automotive journalist and content creator, which keeps me learning, driving, and creating.
When I discovered Boss Ladies Association, a large and growing Facebook Group, last year, I just knew I wanted to be part of it, grow it, take it on. So, I did! I bought the business from the savvy gal who started and had grown it to that point. I am now working to provide valuable networking and learning resources for women-owned businesses through the group and website. We now have a locally focused digital magazine in four locations: Edmonton, Okanagan Valley, Greater Vancouver, and Fraser Valley, BC. The purpose of the magazine is to help local women learn about locally-owned, and women-owned businesses in their communities, and to support them. I want to grow this magazine and Boss Ladies Association to many new locations in 2021 and beyond!
If you’re thinking about starting a business, if you’ve been dreaming about an idea for years, and you’re waiting for just the right moment in time to start, this is it. Start before you’re ready, just start where you are.
