Kim Page Gluckie is a tenacious midlife, no crisis Gen Xer living her legacy. Recognizing that life is unpredictable, she is on a mission to champion women to prioritize themselves, in spite of the grind of real life.
I am approaching fifty years old with excitement! I am an established business owner, mother to three daughters, and trailblazer for other Gen Xers with the GenXO community. I am also a career communications professional, passionate connector, and growth expert with wisdom, learned and earned from a gamut of experiences – raising toddlers to teens, navigating an exciting career, and being blindsided by setbacks at exactly the wrong time!
My life was dramatically interrupted by a car accident over five years ago with lingering physical and emotional impacts. It upended my business, which broke my heart. And recently, surprisingly, suffered another interruption with an unexpected stroke! But this process of falling apart and putting myself back together again simply reinforces my clarity we have to try to live a life of joy and purpose, even during the rocky bits.
Now I know, without doubt, that self-care is more than the cure after falling apart. Being highly self-interested is the very thing that holds us together. The notion of prioritizing ourselves, however, is very difficult. This is the premise of GenXO – a community to encourage Gen X women to establish their stories and build their legacies, before, frankly, it’s too late. Many women have been so busy working hard on life, not raising a fuss, that a genuine dedication to self-interests has landed way on the bottom of the priority list. Shockingly, we’re often considered the underwhelming, forgotten generation, between Boomers and Millennials… which is unfair since we’re the glue, silently straddling overwhelming pressure to hold everything and everyone together. Except ourselves!
It is well past time to break these societal views and normalized challenges.
This means being more purposeful in creating opportunities, braver in telling our stories, more responsible for our well-being! I want other Gen Xers to be midlife, no crisis too!
The Gen X journey should be louder, braver, and more fun! And it should not be alone. My mission with the GenXO community is to provide knowledge, support, and space for Gen X legacies to grow.
