If you could give your past self some advice, what would you tell you?
I would tell my past self to get out of my head and to listen to my gut instincts more ~ in hindsight, they’re actually very smart!
When you first started your career, how did you know you were ready and what made you start?
I began my career through my love for travel. The travel bug found me early and it has never left. I started in the hotel industry when I was 16 years old after a high school exchange trip to Japan. I chose the hospitality and tourism industry because I wanted to work in an environment that aligned with my passion.

What or who has been your greatest influence in business?
A big influence for me in business came many years ago when a partner and I started a sailing school and yacht charter company. I learned so much about business through this start-up and it opened my eyes to the possibilities that exist from having a random idea. I also want to say that every person I have crossed paths with has influenced me in some way. I have been fortunate to work with many great people, both in the workplace and through volunteering. However, life has shown me that the greatest influence really lies within me. It’s what we choose to do with the things we learn along the way that really matters.
What makes an opportunity exciting to you ~ in business or in life?
For me, the more culturally different a place is, or people are, the more I am intrigued and inspired. I get very excited about travelling to new places and I love learning about different cultures.
What is your number one business goal to accomplish this year?
Within this past year, I started a new position as a General Manager. I aim to show up as my best self every day. However, my best self means that I can have tough days too because my best self is my true self. My goal is to be an inspiring leader through change that people can relate to.
What do you have going on that you would like to share?
I recently started my own consulting business! I’m excited to say that Turning Pointz launched in April 2021 after thinking about it for many years. It all began when I decided to start a transition wellness business after living abroad in China. Although it’s not an original idea, when I reflected on my experience, I wanted to give back to others in cultural transition. When Covid-19 hit in 2020, not only was the tourism industry affected, but so was my business plan – so I thought. After considering the state of the world, I realized that there was no better time to start giving back due to the volume of people navigating all kinds of transitions.
