Raugi Yu is a professional Actor/Director of over 25 years and he has been coaching and teaching actors since 2000. Raugi believes in people and the power of love. He is always curious first, ready to accept and hold space for those who need it. “Be the container without being the contents, this is a way to hold space without harming the self.”
If you could give your past self some advice, what would you tell yourself?
I would say trust in what’s happening now. You won’t know why it’s happening now, just keep trusting and the answer will be revealed to you in the future.
When you first started your career, how did you know you were ready and what made you start?
I didn’t know if I was ready. I only knew that I wanted to be an actor. So, I took every opportunity I could find to act. My desire to tell stories is what made me start.
What is your favourite thing about what you do in your career and why?
I would say it’s the opportunity to work with so many different people all the time. That allows me to see and experience the perspectives of other people and that in turn fuels my Craft of Acting and Directing.
Do you have a mantra or phrase you live by? What is it?
“Be curious and practice defencelessness.” that may give you the tools to stay in your moment and understand what you need to do now.
What keeps you motivated on a daily basis? Learning new things about myself and others. Seeing and experiencing hope in peoples’ hearts
