If you could give your past self some advice, what would you tell you?
Don’t take things so seriously and enjoy every moment. We aren’t born to die, why should we set goals just to reach them and not enjoy the process? I know it’s cliché to say slow down and smell the roses, but we rarely do enjoy the simple things in life. Most of us don’t even know what we had for lunch. I would most definitely tell my younger self to slow the f*ck down and have more fun!
Laugh as much as you can. The best part about everything in life is we can choose how we want to act and react. We always have the option of laughing our way through the good, the bad, and everything in between. Be true to yourself but choose laughter whenever you can.
We are in control. We are higher beings living in a physical body for a temporary period of time. We have the choice to make every day the best day of our life.
When you first started your career, how did you know you were ready and what made you start?
I didn’t know I was ready, and I still don’t know if I’m ready! But I do know I am capable and can do whatever I choose to pursue. My career started with me working in different mental health facilities and hospitals, which then transitioned to working with adolescents with severe mental health issues, addictions, and criminal charges. Trust me, nobody’s ready for that. I then went back to school to finish my doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine, while also obtaining my certification in sports nutrition, and specialization in strength and conditioning coaching. I thought I was going to work with professional athletes since I’ve been active all my life. But the best part about life is that you never know what you want until it lands on your front doorstep.
I have to say all the choices I made in my education and career have been more intuitive than rational. I always knew my purpose is to help people, but I didn’t know how I was going to do it. I just allowed myself to do what felt right and pivoted when it felt good. I truly feel every person I come in contact with and every step I’ve taken have been guided by something greater than myself. Listen to your heart and the guiding voice. It should feel good, natural, and without resistance.
