After her successful career as an engineer & project manager for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Zoonie Nguyen discovered her talent as a speaker and trainer. She decided to reorient herself professionally by launching Talentelle in 2006, offering strategic training in career management and entrepreneurship to help women succeed in their chosen career and startup ventures.
Passionate and caring deeply about helping others find their voice, Zoonie has been listening to people’s stories for years. She has an exceptional ability for putting them at ease, allowing them to feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, to confidently share their authentic story, and to connect with their audience.
Hundreds of professionals and entrepreneurs in various organizations and associations have been inspired by her conferences and workshops, and by the captivating story of how she survived the Vietnam War, started over from scratch in Canada, and reinvented herself from electrical engineer to “social engineer” building bridges between people for fruitful collaboration and mutual empowerment.

What is your favourite thing about what you do in your career and why?
What I enjoy most about my work is using my life lessons, experiences, and tools in my speeches, workshops, and coaching sessions to energize and empower my audience to take action and gain confidence.
I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with incredible female entrepreneurs who have the talent and determination to change other people’s lives. I get to contribute to their business growth and their drive to become the STAR of their lives. I love it!
What keeps you motivated on a daily basis?
It is crucial for me to bring interactive energy, zeal, and creativity into my conferences and training sessions to motivate my audience to become the best version of themselves. My goal is to provide them with the strategic blueprint and online tools they need to grow their businesses with confidence and clarity, while also connecting and building lasting relationships with their clients.
When you first started your career, how did you know you were ready and what made you start?
I believe that all the challenges life sent my way – Vietnam war, the exodus from hell, starting over in Canada, working as an engineer in a male-dominated industry, etc., prepared me for any opportunity and to ‘jump”!
I understood from early on that you must trust yourself and practice gratitude. I also learned that I am responsible for my happiness. So, when I chose to leave my engineering career behind to become a speaker and trainer, I knew that I was following my bliss, pursuing my passion, and going after my happiness. I knew that I had found my voice, and I wanted to go out there and help others find their voice.
What Do You have going on that you’d like to share?
I am currently in the post-production of my first documentary film project in which I took my Vietnamese-Chinese-Irish daughter, Maggie, on a three-week journey to explore women’s entrepreneurship in Vietnam and give a voice to seven courageous and daring Vietnamese women entrepreneurs.
Against this backdrop, I discovered and gained many valuable insights about my chosen career path, while Maggie was delighted to discover her Vietnamese grandfather’s village in the north of Vietnam.
“For all the girls and young women entrepreneurs out there, who are wondering what career path or entrepreneurship path to take, this documentary movie hopes to give them a glimpse into the different lives of brave daring women entrepreneurs in Vietnam, who despite the war, the poverty, the lack of resources has managed and succeeded to climb above all of the hardship and managed to start the business and pursue fearlessly their passion.” Zoonie Nguyen, Producer/Director of How She Dares
Do you have a mantra, you live by?
“We all have this magnificent power inside to help us achieve anything we desire in life, but first and foremost, we must, absolutely must, choose and to love ourselves unconditionally. Once we make this choice, everything else will follow.” Zoonie Nguyen
