Jiali thrives in teaching people the benefits of using essential oils for their health and wellbeing and has helped hundreds of families over the last 3 years. She’s completely transformed her life from being an international corporate creative to an Essential Oil Specialist after a long healing journey from a chronic health condition. Today, she continues to pursue her newfound passion and mission for sharing her knowledge of self-healing, holistic wellness, and working with nature’s medicine. She is also a loving mother to a 4 and 7-year-old, and they inspire her daily!
Jiali is also currently taking Permaculture Design Certification to further grow and develop her connection with Mother Earth and be part of the solution and healing of the planet. When she’s not busy educating about the power of essential oils, learning great wisdom like bioremediation and passive solar design, or volunteering at her kids’ school, she tends to her 100+ houseplants in her tropical oasis home in South Vancouver, and if it was up to her (and it is), she would wear flip-flops all year long (and she does).

What has been the greatest shift in your career or life and how did you navigate through it?
In every job/prospect that came my way, I’ve always had the courage to leave the table when respect is no longer being served. Knowing our own worth is key. With that said, I would have to say, becoming a mother shifted everything for me. I used to think or rather, “everybody” always says that your life will be over, once you become a mother. But truthfully, I would have to say that, it is when my life truly began. It was a steep learning curve, knowing how to balance it all and do it all, but the truth is, (learning the hard way, of course) is that balance doesn’t exist. When we release the need to learn how to juggle everything perfectly, we allow ourselves to flow and focus from one thing to another as it presents itself in front of us, with ease.
What makes an opportunity exciting to you – in business or in life?
First of all, my business is my life, and my life is my business. This is not to say that I don’t have a work/life balance, but true freedom is when you do what you love, it doesn’t feel like work! I love what I do because it has first and foremost allowed me to be a student again, to learn something new, and to discover a part of the world that was so foreign to me. I also love that I get to meet new people all the time, and learn about their stories, their joy, and best of all, how I can be part of uplifting and making an impact on their lives, it really makes my heart full.
What has been your favourite experience you love to share?
The opportunity to travel to Nepal, a country that I’ve always longed to visit, with dōTERRA, the essential oil company that I love, use and represent as a Wellness Advocate. It was through their Co-impact Sourcing initiative, which not only ensures the best quality essential oil you can find but oils that do good for the planet and the people at all levels of the supply chain. Their unwavering commitment to supporting growers, farmers, distillers are a huge reason for me to choose to partner with dōTERRA. Together with a beautiful team of 40 other Wellness Advocates, we travelled to a rural area in a little village in Makwanpur district, visited the little distillery set on the foothills, and witnessed fresh Wintergreen leaves brought in by humble women (wearing flip-flops, no less!) in large baskets carried on their backs (and forehead) that they have been harvesting since the crack of dawn, before starting their daily household tasks. They were paid on site, which was unheard of in the industry. We also stayed in a remote hillside village nearby, lived in sleeping bags in an abandoned concrete building. The village had no clean drinking water, and its squatty potty and bucket showers for us. We didn’t speak their language and yet, we were able to communicate the love we share towards each other through smiles and dancing. We worked alongside the villagers like brothers and sisters, digging a long trench to bring clean drinking water source to their village, with handmade tools no less, under the scorching sun. We had the absolute best time. It was one of those moments where I felt the most alive. Never had I thought that selling essential oils will bring me all across the world, meet the most amazing people and also help make a difference in these beautiful people’s lives.
What activity inspires and motivates you to be yourself and do what you love?
My daughter once just blurted out of the blue, “Mom, we are nature, right?” Why yes indeed, we are, my sweets. I think that is exactly why we tend to want to ‘recharge’ in nature, and spend time outdoors, going for vacation by the beach, etc. Because ultimately, connecting with nature = connecting to yourself. That is why I love working with essential oils, which are essentially, the essential component of plants/nature! (It should be, but that’s another conversation for another time) I love introducing people to using essential oils in their self-care routine and lives and then sit back and slowly watch their lives transform. It’s really amazing what magic you create when you pay just a little bit of attention to yourself, your needs according to you, and what brings you joy and ease. Essential oils won’t solve all your problems, but it is surely an invaluable vehicle and for me, a catalyst in my healing, enriching adventures, and unlimited possibilities.
What is the goal that you always had that you have now achieved?
I’ve always thought to myself that I would like to spend most of my time with my children when I do have children; raising them, taking them to school, sports, classes, plays, etc. (I may have a rethink this now that I have children, haha). I grew up with my parents working a lot, and yes, they are the most amazing parents anyone could ever wish for, though I have always wondered what it would be like if they were around more. Ultimately, time lost is time that we will never get back. I realize now that my goals have always been around gaining more time freedom in my life endeavours. I believe that we are meant to do more than work, paying bills, and then die – because every present moment is a gift, not just the weekends and vacation weeks!
