Holly Skyy has been involved in the film and television industry as an actress since her mid 20’s coming from very humble beginnings after growing up in the prairies. Holly won a bursary to attend a college in Quebec where she would have her first taste of theatre with Trois Rivieres College. From Quebec, she would move to British Columbia with her family. After someone mentioned she should get a talent agent, she would learn about the vibrant Hollywood North of Vancouver, Canada. She would start to pursue her love for the arts by enrolling in many acting workshops/schools over the years starting with being a background extra. She has worked on many music videos, television commercials, television shows, print modelling jobs, and fashion shows as well as volunteer independent films. She has also been a judge for the talent segment of Miss World Canada, the Inspiring Youth Awards for EveRIAthing Wall of Stars awards presented to youth across Canada.
Blessed with three beautiful children from a heterosexual marriage of 19 years and the marriage dissolving, Holly knew she needed to deal with something else pressing on her heart. Coming out as a gay Christian and what the repercussions of that might be.
Currently in the process of completing her memoir ‘Good God! I’m Gay!’ with an expected completion of mid-2021 she hopes to start the journey of finding a publishing house. Holly boldly shares about her upbringing and having the courage to come out as a Gay Christian despite many vocally stating their religious views and stigma against LGBTQ+; from friends, to family, to work and churches she has attended. Holly continues to stand for what she knows is right, standing for those who may not have the strength and courage to step out at this time of their journey, if ever. Holly has been interviewed several times about her coming out, including on a very popular radio station in Manila, Philippines where she would gain the respect of many as they questioned how she could reconcile her faith to her sexuality and having been married for 19 years.
In 2016, Holly was involved in a motor vehicle accident to no fault of her own, which would once again change her journey. She had registered and attended the UBC Sauder School of Business program to pursue real estate, and this would suddenly be put on hold. Focused on rehabilitation, Holly has been working hard to overcome post-concussion issues, physical limitations, and depression.
Despite these obstacles, Holly has helped to bring joy to a few of the poorest areas of the Philippines of children and families less fortunate with the delivery of Christmas stockings and food (Holly loves Christmas!). She has also helped to raise money for others in need of urgent care in the Philippines. Having a heart for vulnerable children, youth, and many others, she is grateful to friends and family, and many others who have donated to help with these endeavors.
Holly believes the key to success is in living life with authenticity and a generous heart of love, courage, joy, integrity, kindness, respect, and faith.
