Q. If you could give your past self some advice, what would you tell yourself?
1. Respect your money and learn the skill of investing.
2. Write it down! You MUST have a plan for achieving your goals.
3. Always be the first one to say hello.
Q. When you first started your career, how did you know you were ready and what made you start?
I can’t say that I knew I was ready. I just knew that I loved to meet people, and I loved to entertain. What made me start as I had bills to pay, and I figured why not do something I love instead of growing into something I would hate and feel stuck in. Money is certainly a motivator; however, too many of us let money get in the way of doing the things we love. I never wanted to settle on something just because it was a good job.
Q. What is your favourite thing about what you do in your career and why?
My favourite thing about what I do is ‘THE PEOPLE’ I always learn so much from the people I interview and work with within my community. Everyone has a story, and I love being able to help them share their story. Additionally, I love the IMPACT that I can have on people by sharing other people’s stories.

Q. Do you have a mantra or phrase you live by? What is it?
I have several.
“Attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your Altitude” ~Zig Ziglar
“Don’t let anyone rent space in your head unless they’re a good tenant.”
“The person who stands to gain from changing your perception and thereby changing your reality is you first and foremost.”
“If you can’t be on time, be early.”
“If you think like everyone else, you will be like everyone else.”

Q. What or who has been your greatest influence in business?
I have learned so much from so many. Although I have never met him, Donald Sutherland is someone whose story has had a HUGE impact on me. He obtained his first part-time job, at the age of 14, as a news correspondent for a local radio station. Beyond his acting career, his philosophies have greatly supported and influenced me. I recommend learning more about his life journey.
I have always admired my sister Catherine for her strength and wisdom. Besides my wife Jennifer, she is my best friend. When I was lost in life, she still kept an eye on me. Her advice whenever I hit a roadblock is a great treasure to me.
There are so many that I could mention. The influence others have had on me is a grace that I hold very dearly.
