What makes an opportunity exciting to you – in business or in life?
In business, I get excited when my clients start to see results in just a few weeks of working with m, after having struggled to get answers for a long period of time. It is so exciting for them, to know they are finally on the right path, and their excitement fuels me, as it’s so very rewarding to give someone the gift of health, so they can live longer and die shorter, enjoying life to the fullest as I try to do.
In life I get excited at the prospect of learning something new, another course to deepen my knowledge, or travelling to new places and exploring the culture, the food, the backstreets, so I can really get to know the destination and not just from a “touristy” perspective. During Covid times, my travel has changed to backcountry camping in the great outdoors, close to home with one of my daughters, which has been fabulous! Beauty surrounds us, and I love getting out and enjoying the incredible views. We are currently planning and excited about more trips in summer 2021.
What has been the greatest shift in your career or life and how did you navigate through it?
The greatest shift came when I was laid off in March 2015 after 24 years with Delta Hotels, when Marriott bought Delta and I was given an hour to clear out my desk and not a word of thanks for all those years of service. In that moment I had no idea what I’d do next, BUT, I knew 2 things:
1) I’d never work for anyone else again
2) Whatever I did next would be of service
And then I allowed myself to be guided. Later that year I found brain supplementation and found that interesting, as I had a grandmother who was about 97 at the time and still lived by herself, fully cognitively functioning and I wanted to be just like her when I grew up, but realized I’d never actually been taught how to look after my brain well and fuel it well, so it could function 24/7 and not burnout. So, I started learning about brain health, then not one, but both my daughters got concussions 2 months apart, and I guided their healing as they didn’t have the capacity to figure it out on their own, and in doing so I brought a nutritional piece to their healing that no one else was addressing. Then I was asked to help others, but I had no certifications, just my own research and experience! So, I went back to school to become a Registered Health Coach and then Integrative Health Practitioner. With this certification I can help you get to the root cause of your health issue, using the power of Functional Medicine Labs, mailed to your home, and then guide your body back into balance at which point it will heal itself, for true and lasting healing, not simply masking symptoms with drugs.
What has been your favourite experience you love to share?
Creating my podcast “Don’t Wait For Your Wake Up Call!”, which I just launched this year. The aim is to provide health education and tips to people that are too busy to go back to school and learn how to be empowered in their health in a holistic way, as I’ve done. There is so much we could do on our own if we only knew! We can learn to stop habits that are negatively impacting our health and replace them with better serving habits. When we know better, we do better, we just need to know! I was nervous about starting this, not sure I’d have enough content, but since starting I’ve realized I have so much to share and so many wonderful guests to highlight their stories and share with the audience. This has been so well received, and the feedback has inspired me to keep going, as people are listening! Thank you to my listeners. You inspire me!
What are you up to right now that people should know about?
I’m about to launch “Rebalancing Your Female Hormones”, which is an online course created by my mentor Dr. Stephen Cabral, for us Integrative Health Practitioners to share with our network, and I’m adding 3 FREE group workshop sessions for people to come to, as they work through the online course content, which they purchase. Girls and women of all ages are suffering with symptoms of hormonal imbalances, whether it be awful PMS, infertility, unexplained weight gain, hot flashes, brain fog, sleep issues, painful sex, and more. I want you all to know, that we can naturally rebalance your hormones to eradicate the symptoms, you do not have to suffer in silence.
There is so much amazing content in the course, from how your hormones became unbalanced, to using natural supplements, herbs, and food to rebalance them. In order to ensure deeper learning and get your questions answered, I encourage you to attend my 3 FREE workshops. The workshops start May 3rd and run over 3 weeks on Mondays at 2 p.m. PDT until May 17. To learn more, click here.
If well received I will likely run it again later in the year, to help more people put an end to their hormonal struggle, as I’ve been able to do, by balancing my hormones to put a stop to the migraines!
