Following a dream to work in Film/T.V. in special effects came full circle when now LeiLani specializes in covering up severe skin conditions.
When LeiLani first began her career in Los Angeles for Film and T.V. in 1990, the corrective makeup industry was non-existent, the cosmetic industry focused on glamour.
15 years into the Cosmetic Industry, LeiLani wasn’t content to remain a hair and makeup designer for Film and T.V. only.
As one of Canada’s few Certified Paramedical Makeup and Tattoo Specialists, she wanted to use her training to help others undergoing difficult physical challenges.
It was this desire that led to establishing “Face the Future”, a volunteer program where LeiLani works closely with Burn/Trauma/Cancer surgeons teaching patients, procedures using corrective makeup and tattooing procedures after breast reconstruction, as well as wig styling.
It was her pro bono work with these patients that inspired LeiLani to begin her first entrepreneurial venture that was the start of Sweet LeiLani Cosmetics. Later years her Program included teaching embalmers a more natural way to makeup loved ones.
LeiLani, Founder and Creative Director, is the driving force behind the Sweet LeiLani brand. With a hands-on approach to all aspects of product development, design and marketing, her personality is evident throughout the entire company.
With the foundation of her business established and a strong reputation within the medical community, LeiLani is highly recognized not only for her volunteer work, but more importantly for boosting the self-esteem and confidence of those suffering silently from challenging skin conditions.
Although medical conditions initially inspired the development of her Brand. The demand for her product has grown, from a bedroom to Drug/Grocery/Health stores across Canada, and US. Sweet LeiLani Cosmetics, broke down barriers, pioneered Paramedical Makeup, and was ahead of the curve as to what Clean Beauty would mean today to all our generations.
LeiLani’s passion, creativity, and innovation for cosmetics combined with the desire to fill a need in the everyday women’s life for simple effective makeup, keeps her in demand for her knowledge in the industry. Dedicated to empowering women, her knack for bringing out the inner beauty in her clients is the core of her brand. Over a 33-year span LeiLani has been honored with many awards. Recognized by the World Burn Congress, Cancer, burn wards and surgeons across the country, LeiLani receives patient referrals from all over the country.
