When the sun is shining and you see the crocuses popping up, it feels like spring is just around the corner. And that has me in the mood for a little spring shopping!
I paid a visit to Twist Fashions, one of my favourite neighbourhood boutiques (don’t worry, they ship across North America) to pull a few of my favourite finds to wear now and into spring.
High waisted, full length jeans
After a few years of cropped styles, denim is getting a new look. Or rather, an old look, revisited. These AG high-waisted jeans have a wider, longer leg, very reminiscent of 70s and 80s styles. I find with high-waisted jeans I often have to go up a size or even two, so don’t panic. It’s not you, it’s them. I’ve paired them here with white sneakers that feature a cute faux snake stripe. (And good news, the sneakers are on sale.)
Graphic Tees
Graphic tees, band tees, printed tees, are all still going strong. I have a number of them, though I do particularly LOVE this one! They look great paired with jeans, leggings, or a skirt and worn under a blazer, a bomber or a leather jacket. Pretty much a closet staple in my books.
The Zoom-ready blazer
How gorgeous is this L’Agence green blazer with gold button detailing? Blazers are my go-tos for video conference calls. Throwing one over a tee can make you look and feel much more polished. Don’t think of them as being overly formal. I like to wear mine with jeans and sneakers or loafers. Then dress a piece like this up by pairing it with a camisole and heels for a night out.
Elevated sweats
I’m betting pretty much everyone has a drawer or two full of stay-at-home sweats. I’m now looking for sweatpants and sweatshirts that I’m not embarrassed to wear out to the store or to socially-distanced coffee with friends. These mustard coloured sweatpants by Frame are super comfortable but the colour gives them some sophistication.
A simple, well-cut black sweatshirt is a must for me as it replaces my black sweaters when the temperatures rise. And I love pairing sweats not just with sneakers but with something a little unexpected, like these high-heeled combat boots which incredibly are comfortable.
Colour
I’ve been living in black, navy, grey, and camel for the past four or five months. I’m starting to crave some colour. I love this easy peasy orange dress from Velvet. (I have a similar one in black that I bought last summer and I wore it constantly.) It’s a good length (ie. not too short) roomy, and has pockets. Pockets! The perfect spring/summer piece. I’ve paired it here with some colourful slides. I’d wear this outfit to hang out at home and it would be the first thing to go into my suitcase come vacation time. You know, eventually!
Twist Fashions carries a wide variety of T-shirts, sweaters, jeans, shoes, lounge wear, dresses, and business wear, all at a variety of price points. It is a must-stop for me every season. You can check them out online at www.twistfashions.com.
