Interview with Sharley Neill

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Surviving my childhood (I come from a big family!) I
don’t know how we didn’t strangle each other. OK, it might have happened one time..
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Kayaking or taking my camera into nature.
What is your current state of mind? Ever seen a hurricane? It’s kind of like that.
What is your favorite occupation? Writing
What is your most treasured possession? Memories
What or who is the greatest love of your life? My 3 grown kids. I did however just become a grandma in
May 2023, so if I have to choose a singular person, my grandson is definitely it!
What is your favorite journey? The one that points forward.
What is your most marked characteristic? My determination
When and where were you the happiest? Right now. I’m taking a minute on my own behalf and working
on myself. My therapist thinks it’s a great idea…
What is it that you most dislike? Dishonesty.
What is your greatest fear? Dying with regrets.
What is your greatest extravagance? Perfume
Which living person do you most despise? I can’t say that here or I’ll need bail money.
What is your greatest regret? I didn’t listen more to my parents when I was young.
Which talent would you most like to have? To sing.
Where would you like to live? I’ve only lived in Canada, so the world is my oyster. Preferably somewhere
sunny and sandy.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Suicidal ideation
What is the quality you most like in a man? Integrity
What is the quality you most like in a woman? Collaboration
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? I’m not forgiving of myself.

What is the trait you most deplore in others? Lack of accountability.
What do you most value in your friends? Kindness2
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? I feel like this is a question for the am and it’s pm. The best my brain
has right now is Deadpool (sorry Ryan)
Whose are your heroes in real life? My parents. They adopted 4 kids, from 4 completely different families
and created a new family tree.. They deserve capes.
Which living person do you most admire? Anyone who pulls themselves out of a dark place every day
and keeps on living. Keep doing that!
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Silence. I think we’re turning the page on that though.
On what occasions do you lie? When I’m trying to plan a surprise party, or if I’ve forgotten about the
surprise party.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Whatever they are, I’m pretty sure they have swear words
in them.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? More discipline in the gym.
What are your favorite names? Anything but my kid’s names might get me in trouble…
How would you like to die? In my sleep
If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be? A bird.
What is your motto? You either go after the life you want, or settle for the life you get.
