What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is two fold; one personal and one professional. I have always felt that to support a child as they grow up into a functional, contributing, whole hearted member of society is a supremely tall task. Currently, my daughter is in Grade 12 and I am very proud to have been a part of her process allowing her to blossom into the terrific human being that she is becoming.
The second greatest achievement is on the brink of going one way or the other. For the past four years I had the privilege of serving the public as a City of Surrey councillor. I was part of a team that had the vision to vote for a local, innovative, progressive and solution oriented municipal police service. For me, this took a lot of deep courage and commitment to see it through to this point. It was the most challenging process that I have ever been part of. I will be infinitely pleased if we are able to see this project to final fruition and pray each day that it will be the case.
What is your current state of mind?
My current state of mind is optimistic and enthusiastic. This year I am focusing on two words; wonder and energy. To come from a place of wonder as I walk into each day finding delight in my natural environment, and the patients that I am so lucky to work with. Life is such a delight each day when I come from a perspective of wonder. In terms of energy, looking at ways to build energy, share energy, preserve energy and streamline energy is a helpful way to shift my focus in moments when the world feels a bit chaotic as it does at times. So far, I am finding many energetic and wonderous moments this year.
What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear (totally irrational) is trying something new and having it turn into a total disaster! How I work around this fear is that I try new things everyday and then affirm the positive outcome as it happens so that each success is celebrated, and calm confidence keeps building slowly but surely. This has been a very powerful exercise for me.
What is your greatest extravagance?
My greatest extravagance is travel. I love to travel and I missed it terribly over the past few years. Travel allows me to try new things, face my fears, meet incredible people and indulge in the beauty that is found all over the world in our natural environment. Travel feels so immersive and indulgent to me and I love it.
What is your motto?
My motto is to pursue what I love with deep passion, to never ever give up, and to surround myself with people that cherish me and that I cherish.
