First and foremost treating your skin with a melasma condition is key! Skincare is always the first and most important step in this process (refer to part one to learn how to treat melasma).
As a makeup artist and esthetican, I see many skin conditions and melasma is a very common skin condition amongst my clients. I see the frustration and it becomes difficult to conceal melasma without looking or feeling “cakey”. The trick is to find products that do the job without feeling like you are wearing or looking like you are wearing a ton of makeup.

Sunscreen is the first step and the most important. I recommend a sunscreen without any tint as it can make melasma appear darker or gradually through the day darken those areas.
Here are some of my favourite sunscreens (with no tint)
Functionlab Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50
Monat Sun Veil™ Daily Mineral Protection SPF 30
Coola Full Spectrum 360° Sun Silk Drops Organic Face Sunscreen SPF 30
I highly recommend a makeup lesson with a professional makeup artist. I do private one on one makeup lessons as well as virtual, so you can connect with me anytime to find the right products that are perfect for you! As everyone is different. That being said here are some products that I have found to be very helpful to conceal melasma.
One product that I love that blurs out imperfections on the skin is Vita Liberata Beauty Blur Gliding onto the skin as a sheer veil, it helps to improve the appearance of skin tone, blur and conceal imperfections and promote radiance.
I recommend using a beauty blender to press and bounce the product into the skin. No swiping. Remember – wet. squeeze. bounce when using your blender.
To spot treat melasma, using a corrector and concealer works well.
Bodyography Cover and Correct this product is made for under eye concealing but I have used it for spot treating melasma and it works like a charm!
Finding a foundation that perfectly matches your skin tone is always important but even more important with melasma. Skip the bronzer as it can make the melasma look more pronounced.
For powder always use a translucent powder with no pigment.
Here’s a few faves!
Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Mac Translucent Setting Powder

To finish off your makeup use Coola Makeup Setting Spray Organic Sunscreen SPF 30.
You set your makeup as well as adding more sunscreen to protect your skin.
As a professional makeup artist, I love working with so many different clients and love finding the right makeup regime for you!
