As many of you know, when it comes to hair I do my research and I am always looking for the best! Hair extensions are still on trend and there is always new and upcoming change to what’s new and what’s best for you and your hair.
My clients and friends are always curious what I am doing and I love being able to share what I have learned and who I work with. I have partnered with Philocaly Hair, for many years and there is a reason I have never switched it up. They are just hands down the best. What I love is that they just keep growing and coming up with new techniques and latest trends. My hair has never looked better over the last 6 years and that’s because of Philocaly hair and the stylists I work with.
I love being blonde and I love having added length from hair extensions. I have naturally very thick hair but because of highlighting blonde I struggle with having the length I would like. The hand tied weft extensions have been the latest solution for me and I love that I don’t feel like I even have them in AND you can’t see them in my hair either (the coolest “flip up” method).
For the last year, I have been getting the hair extension flip up method done by two talented hair stylists and educators. I have Philocaly Hand Tied Wefts and Philocaly educators Tori Abrahamson and Kailyn Adamson have both installed them for me using this method.

Let’s start with a brief background on what hand tied wefts are and what the differences are with them.
As soon as you start your hair extension journey, you’ll want to become familiar with what a weft is. A weft refers to a collection of hair strands attached to a thin base material that can be woven into the natural hair to create fuller, longer locks. Yep! No adhesives, glue, or clips needed! The only thing that makes each weft different is the type of attachment used. For instance, you can choose from flat wefts, hand-tied wefts, and genius wefts. Also, there are different ways to install a weft.
Due to their practical design and easy installation, weft extensions are the most popular type of extension available on the market today. In fact, even top stylists recommend them because of their unmatched versatility, as they can be removed and reapplied without causing damage to the client’s own strands.

- Hand Tied Wefts Best finer locks and those aiming to get an almost undetectable look
- Flat Wefts – Best for thicker, coarser locks and those who want volume. Ooh la la!
- Genius Wefts – Best for those who want to focus on thickness and length!
Now that you have a little more knowledge on hand tied wefts, let’s talk about these two amazing stylists and what they have done for my hair.

Kailyn’s attention to detail and her understanding and knowledge has had me in her hair chair many times as well.

Both Tori and Kailyn are great resources if you are looking to get hair extensions. There are so many factors to installing extensions. It’s important you have a consultation with your stylist and ask questions. There are many different styles of hair extensions and there are so many options for different hair. Having a stylist who is knowledgeable about colour tones is very important as well. If you are looking to match your current hair and want your extensions to look natural it’s important to have open communication on these selections.

Hair highlights by Rachel Stange @freebirdhairdesign
My latest hair selection (by stylist Tori) is 6 Philocaly hand tied hair wefts in 18-20 inch in shades “Just Beachy” ( rooty blonde) and “Blonde Shell”. I absolutely love this selection as my hair looks like a natural blonde and the flip up method allows me to wear my hair up without seeing any hair extensions.
If you are looking for your hair dreams, it’s very important to do your research – both with the company you are purchasing your hair from and who is installing your hair extensions and their expertise and education with them.
Also shout out to my other hairstylist Rachel Stange of @freebirdhairdedign for my hair highlights.
It takes a TEAM.
